Exciting things are happening here in Mason County, WV and local residents couldn’t be happier! Earlier this year Nucor announced Apple Grove, West Virginia as the site for their newest steel mill. Apple Grove, WV is a small community along WV Route 2 and the Ohio River. It is situated about 28 miles North of Huntington, WV. The $2.7 Billion investment is the largest economic development project in the history of West Virginia and Mason County is proud to be part of that. Expected to be operational by 2024, the plant will require 1000+ construction jobs and expects to employ nearly 800 at full operational status. Nucor is the largest steel producer in the US and the largest recycler of scrap metal in all of North America.
